Welcome to Class 1

Welcome to Year 1!

This year promises to be filled with wonderful opportunities for our children to thrive, explore, and learn. Year 1 is a vital stepping stone in their educational journey, where they will build upon the skills and knowledge acquired in Reception.

Throughout the year, children will engage in a variety of subjects. Our aim is to create a stimulating and supportive environment where they can discover their interests and develop their talents. We have planned numerous activities that not only fulfil the National Curriculum requirements but also instil a love for learning through play, collaboration, and hands-on experiences.

This year a strong emphasis will be placed on reading and phonics as we prepare the children for the phonics screening check, which will take place in the summer term. Our aim is to cultivate a love for reading while ensuring that your child develops the necessary skills to succeed.
