Class 6

Welcome to Class 6

Welcome to Year 6!

Miss Carpenter is our teacher in Year 6 and we have Mr Renney supporting us as well. We work really hard in Year 6, demonstrating our school values and following our community rules as we are great role models for the children in our school. In Year 6 we have lots of roles and responsibilities that help others within school, such as assembly monitors, team captains and head pupils.

We have displayed a hard working attitude since moving into Year 6 which will help us prepare throughout the year for our SATs.

There are lots of exciting learning opportunities for us this year including learning about WW2 in History, exploring religious diversity in RE and studying evolution in Science. Throughout the year in Maths we will be building on our previous knowledge including fractions and the four operations, as well as discovering algebra.

In English we read three different texts throughout the year: Kensuke’s Kingdom, Letters from the Lighthouse and The Final Year. All three texts will provide us with some exciting writing opportunities that will allow us to showcase all of the skills we have learnt throughout our school journey.

We love to read in Year 6 and we are often found with our nose in a book. There are so many exciting genres to choose from in both our school library and our class library. We love to share our favourite reads with each other, so if you’re ever short of a good book to read we would be happy to help.
